Ukraine and Denmark agree to start negotiations on security commitments

Ukrinform
Ukraine and Denmark have agreed to start negotiations on security commitments within the framework of the Joint Declaration of Support for Ukraine, which was agreed by the leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) countries.

This was announced by Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løekke Rasmussen at a joint press conference with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba on the occasion of the opening of the Danish Embassy's office in Mykolaiv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"We feel a responsibility to help Ukraine restore its territorial integrity, repel Russian invaders and become a full member of the European Union. I discussed this with my good friend Dmytro Kuleba, and we agreed that we will now begin concrete negotiations on security commitments. I hope that in the not too distant future we will come to an agreement on a bilateral agreement between Denmark and Ukraine," Rasmussen said.

The head of Danish diplomacy emphasized that the parties discussed concrete steps to help Ukraine achieve full control over its territory.

As reported, on July 12, on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Vilnius, the G7 leaders agreed on a Joint Declaration of Support for Ukraine. The document referred, among other things, to work on specific bilateral long-term commitments and agreements in the security sector.

Lars Løekke Rasmussen arrived in Ukraine to open the office of the Danish Embassy in Ukraine in Mykolaiv and had to go into hiding at night during an air raid.
