Italian Senate approves government's decision on military assistance to Ukraine in 2024

The Senate of the Italian Parliament has approved the government's decision to extend military assistance to Ukraine through 2024.

This is reported by ANSA, Ukrinform reports.

The decision was made by 113 votes, 18 senators were against. The document is now going to the House of Deputies for a vote.

The government decree provides for the extension of the permission to transfer military assets to Ukraine until December 31, 2024, in accordance with Italy's international obligations to assist Kyiv.

Only the Italian opposition party, the 5-Star Movement, opposes further arms transfers to Kyiv.

As Ukrinform previously reported, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is in favor of further arms transfers to Ukraine.
