The United States spent less than 3% of its defense budget on helping the Ukrainian military, and this helped destroy half of the Russian army.

This was stated by U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham, who spoke at a press conference in Kyiv, Ukrinform reports.

"The United States spent billions during the Cold War to prevent Russian aggression. Now, we have spent less than 3% of our defense budget in Ukraine to help the Ukrainian military, and they have destroyed half of the Russian army. It is the best investment ever for American security. Ukraine is a great partner! We haven't seen a partner like this since Churchill," Graham said.

The Senator also noted that American intelligence was very wrong in the run-up to the Russian invasion, greatly overestimating the might of the Russian army.

He noted that senators were told, when the Russians invaded, that Kyiv would fall in four days, and the whole country – in three weeks. This was the biggest misunderstanding of the Ukrainians, and the overestimation of the Russian army by the U.S. intelligence, Senator Graham admitted, noting that he, himself, thought that the Russian army was better than it turned out to be.
