Bankova tells of consultations in Saudi Arabia on peace principles for Ukraine

That’s according to the Presidential Office press service, Ukrinform reports.

It is noted that on August 5, Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) hosted the second meeting of diplomatic advisers on national security and political directors from over 40 nations regarding the key principles of restoring a stable and just peace for Ukraine after the corresponding format was launched in Copenhagen this June.

On behalf of President Volodymyr Zelensky, the head of his Office, Andriy Yermak, headed the Ukrainian delegation.

According to reports, the meeting was attended by by diplomatic national security advisors and political directors from Saudi Arabia, Australia, Argentina, Bahrain, Bulgaria, Brazil, Denmark, Canada, the Czech Republic, Chile, China, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, India, Italy, Jordan, Kuwait, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, the United Arab Emirates, the Republic of South Africa, Poland, the Republic of Korea, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Türkiye,  the Union of Comoros, the and United Kingdom, the United States of America, Japan, Qatar, as well as the European Union and the UN. Some of those representatives took part via video conference.

In total, more than 40 states were represented in Jeddah, which is almost three times more than at the consultations in Copenhagen, the press service wrote, underlying the fact that "this shows the extreme interest of the world in establishing a stable and lasting peace."

"We had very productive consultations on the key principles on which a just and lasting peace should be built. We had an extremely honest and open conversation, during which representatives of each country could express their position and vision. There were different views, but all those present testified to the commitment of their countries to the principles of the UN Charter, international law, and respect for the sovereignty and inviolability of the territorial integrity of states. And it is on these principles that President Zelensky's Peace Formula, which we talked about in detail, is built on," Yermak noted.

It is reported that the meeting in Jeddah was a step toward the practical implementation of peace initiatives proposed by Ukraine.

"Each state participating in the consultations has the opportunity to show leadership in global efforts for peace. And most of them have already determined their role in the implementation of individual points of the Formula," the statement reads.

It is noted that the parties agreed to continue working at various representative levels to establish a just and comprehensive peace.

The press service also wrote that as part of the consultations in Jeddah, the Ukrainian delegation led by the head of the Presidential Office held a number of bilateral meetings, which will continue into Sunday. At those meetings, the Ukrainian side discusses with partners the details of the implementation of peace initiatives and cooperation in this regard.

As reported, on August 5-6, Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) is holding a second meeting at the level of national security advisers and political directors regarding the key principles of peace based on the Peace Formula of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.

Zelensky’s Peace Formula is about ensuring radiation, nuclear, food, and energy security, and the release of all prisoners and deportees, fulfilling the UN Charter and restoring the territorial integrity of Ukraine and the world order, the withdrawal of Russian troops and ending hostilities, restoring justice, combating ecocide, preventing escalation, and fixating the end of the war.
