Ukraine is now on a good and fast track toward EU membership while Poland has supported and will continue to provide military, diplomatic, and humanitarian support to Ukraine to repel Russian aggression.

That’s according to Elzbieta Witek, Marshal of the Polish Sejm, who spoke at a joint media briefing in Warsaw on Wednesday alongside Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk, Ukrinform's own correspondent reports.

As the head of the lower house of the Polish parliament emphasized, the entire Polish Sejm, regardless of the party affiliation of its deputies, supports Ukraine.

"We realize that we all have to support Ukraine in military, diplomatic, and humanitarian aspects so that this war ends as soon as possible with Ukraine's victory," Witek said.

She added that a free and independent Ukraine means a free and safe Poland and Europe.

Witek noted that she and her Ukrainian counterpart discussed the preparation of the next, 11th package of EU sanctions against Russia.

She added that on June 1-3, a meeting of NATO heads of parliaments will be held in Vilnius, where Kyiv's Euro-Atlantic prospects will also be discussed. According to her, the Sejm of the Republic of Poland will work on a resolution to support Ukraine's membership in NATO.

"As for Ukraine's membership in the EU, the countries of the European Union have made joint efforts to ensure that Ukraine is now on a good and fast track to joining the EU," Witek emphasized.

The Marshal of the Sejm said Poland would continue to support Ukraine, perfectly understanding the Russian threat.

"We understand that Putin will not stop in Ukraine, we know about the intentions of rebuilding Russia's great imperial positions, and we cannot allow this to happen," Witek said.
