The European Commission tweeted about it, Ukrinform reports.
“Today, we are flying the Ukrainian flag in the heart of Europe. As we mark Europe Day, we reaffirm our unwavering support and solidarity to Ukraine and its people. We stand by the Ukrainian people for as long as it takes” - the EC said in a statement.
It is also emphasized that Europe stood by Ukraine when Russia launched a full-scale invasion in February 2022. "We stand by the Ukrainian people for as long as it takes," the European Commission said.
As reported earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree declaring May 9 Europe Day.
Europe Day is a holiday celebrated on May 9 in Ukraine, the European Union and other countries to mark peace and unity on the European continent.
Previously, at the European level, Europe Day was celebrated on May 5, but now this date remains only an annual reminder of the founding of the Council of Europe. The first Europe Day celebration was held by the Council of Europe in 1964.
