Minister for Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba is heading to Guatemala, where he will participate in the Council of Ministers of the Association of Caribbean States and make the first bilateral visit to this country as head of Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry.

The chief of Ukrainian diplomacy reported the news on Instagram, Ukrinform saw.

"The best way to spend Europe Day... is to be on my way to Latin America to open new horizons for European Ukraine. A long way is ahead to a distant, but sincerely friendly Guatemala, where, at the invitation of my colleague Mario Bucaro Flores, I will participate in the Council of Ministers of the Association of Caribbean States (ACC) and make a bilateral visit," Kuleba wrote.

He noted that this trip is historic for three reasons: it is the first-ever visit to Guatemala by a Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the first-ever participation in the ACC Council of Ministers, and the first visit of the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine to Latin America in a decade.

Kuleba recalled that the Association of Caribbean States includes 25 Caribbean nations.

"It’s an important region that has significant resources and is interested in Ukrainian goods, the experience of government digitalization, and mutually beneficial political cooperation in international organizations. My visit to Latin America is part of the Foreign Ministry's course to open new horizons for Ukraine, Ukrainian businesses, and citizens," emphasized the head of the Foreign Ministry.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, on May 5, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, visited Ukraine for the first time since diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in July 1992.
