The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, has withdrawn from the agreement on the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Holos Party MP Yaroslav Zhelezniak reported on the approval of a respective resolution, No. 9202, on his Telegram channel, according to Ukrinform.

He specified that 280 lawmakers had voted for the adoption of the document.

According to the text of the resolution, the Verkhovna Rada is withdrawing from the Agreement on the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States of March 27, 1992.

At the same time, the document states that the Agreement on the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly lost its value as a valid document of inter-parliamentary cooperation from January 16, 1996, after the entry into force of the Convention on the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member States of May 26, 1995, which Ukraine did not sign or ratify. On February 19, 2014, the Verkhovna Rada stopped its inter-parliamentary cooperation as part of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly.

The resolution enters into force from the day of its adoption, that is, from May 3, 2023.
