Zelensky, Trudeau coordinate positions ahead of NATO summit

President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine discussed with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau the program of long-term defense cooperation and increased pressure on Russia, as well as coordinated positions ahead of the upcoming NATO summit and other international events.

The head of state announced this in Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

“I had a phone call with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. We discussed the program of long-term defense cooperation. I noted the beginning of the confiscation of Russian assets and called for increased sanctions pressure on Russia. We coordinated positions on the eve of the NATO summit and other international events,” Zelensky wrote.

As reported, on April 21, Canada announced a new package of military aid to Ukraine worth nearly $39 million.

The meeting of NATO heads of state and government will take place in Vilnius on July 11-12, 2023.
