Members of the U.S. Congress presented the draft resolution "Ukrainian Victory" which supports the efforts of Ukrainians in their fight for freedom, as well as Ukraine’s accession to NATO.

The document was presented during a press conference organized by the Helsinki Commission, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

The resolution affirms that it is U.S. policy “to ensure Ukraine is able to retain sovereignty over its internationally-recognized borders, to pursue justice and reparations for Ukraine to help facilitate reconstruction, and to integrate Ukraine into Euro-Atlantic institutions like NATO, consistent with U.S. policy since 2008.”

As Ambassador of Ukraine to the USA Oksana Markarova posted on Facebook, the draft resolution says that the House of Representatives:

1) Affirms that the U.S. policy is for Ukraine to defeat the [Russian] invasion and restore its internationally recognized borders of 1991

2) Believes that peace after the Ukrainian Victory should be ensured by the integration of Ukraine into NATO and other Euro-Atlantic institutions, consistent with the long-term U.S. policy

3) Declares that the United States should work with its allies and partners to ensure that the Russian Federation pays reparations to Ukraine; the world community helps to restore Ukraine; the leadership of the Russian Federation is held to account for this war of aggression; justice for the victims of crimes committed by the Russian Federation during its invasion is restored

The co-authors of the resolution are members of the House of Representatives of the U.S. Congress: Republican Joe Wilson, Chairman of the Helsinki Commission, and Democrat Steve Cohen, Ranking Member of the Helsinki Commission.

As reported, the administration of President Biden is convinced that the Senate controlled by Democrats and the House of Representatives with a Republican majority will continue consistent support for Ukraine.
