MFA Ukraine welcomes CoE Commissioner report on Crimean Tatars' rights

This is stated in the commentary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on the report of the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights "Crimean Tatars' struggle for human rights," Ukrinform reports.

According to it, the foreign ministry shares the conclusion of the Council of Europe Commissioner that the Crimean Tatars, who are an integral part of the European community and history, should be provided with all necessary support to preserve their unique identity and realize their human rights.

"We are convinced that the report will contribute to raising awareness of the general public about the numerous violations that the Russian occupation authorities continue to commit after the illegal occupation of the Crimean peninsula in 2014," the Ministry emphasized.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that it supports the demands of the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights to immediately stop arbitrary arrests, harassment, abductions, searches of the homes of Crimean Tatar human rights defenders, activists, leaders, journalists, ordinary Crimean Tatars, as well as lawyers and lawyers representing their rights.

"We demand the release of all illegally imprisoned citizens of Ukraine," the comment concludes.

As reported, on April 18, the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Dunja Mijatović in her report emphasized numerous violations of the rights of Crimean Tatars in the temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.
