The debt recovery agency in Finland has imposed an arrest on the land plot and real estate run by the Russian Center of Science and Culture (Rossotrudnichestvo) in Helsinki due to the EU sanctions imposed on Russia.

That’s according to Yle, Ukrinform reports.

The decision was made a week ago and is related to EU sanctions. During a three-week period, the bailiff shall determine whether the land and building are owned, held, or controlled by the sanctioned entity.

According to the Helsingin Sanomat newspaper, the land plot in question is owned by the Russian government. The value of frozen assets is usually estimated by the debt recovery agency. However, according to Helsingin Sanomat, the property value of Rossotrudnichestvo’s assets is "unknown".

The objects were “frozen” following a motion filed by Finland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which initially asked for the EU ruling to come into effect as early as July 2022.

In addition, the debt recovery agency seized seven apartments in Helsinki, linked to the said sanctioned entity.

Earlier in March, the administration froze Rossotrudnichestvo’s funds in its Nordea Bank account.
