Ukraine, India agree to resume intergovernmental commission work - MFA

Ukraine and India have agreed on holding foreign political consultations, resuming the work of the intergovernmental Ukrainian-Indian commission and increasing the amount of humanitarian aid supplied to Ukraine.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs following the two-day visit of First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Emine Dzhaparova, to India, Ukrinform saw.

"As a result of the visit, the parties reached agreements on conducting foreign political consultations, resuming the work of the intergovernmental Ukrainian-Indian commission on trade, economic, scientific, technical, industrial, and cultural cooperation, and increasing the volume of humanitarian aid," MFA Ukraine reported.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recalled that the first deputy minister had discussed the strengthening of cooperation between the two states with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and State Minister of Culture of India Meenakashi Lekhi, handing her a letter from President Volodymyr Zelensky, addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

With the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of India, Sanjay Verma, Emine Dzhaparova discussed ways to intensify cooperation within the framework of the comprehensive partnership, in particular, ambitious plans for bilateral cooperation in 2023.

"We hope that India, which presides over the G20 and is an influential global actor, will play a proactive role in stopping Russian aggression, ensuring sustainable peace, and joining the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine," the first deputy minister emphasized.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Emine Dzhaparova said President Volodymyr Zelensky had invited India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi for talks.
