What happened in Bucha, Kyiv region, was part of a bigger Kremlin plan to eliminate Ukrainians.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen wrote this on her Twitter account on the anniversary of Bucha liberation from the Russian invaders.

“What happened in Bucha one year ago was not an isolated episode. Those executions in cold blood were part of a bigger plan.   The Kremlin's plan to eliminate Ukrainians. Their national identity. Their sense of being. War criminals will be held accountable,” the European Commission president said.

In her another post, she added: “We will continue to support efforts to make sure that Putin can be held accountable for the crime of aggression. To that end, we continue to support the creation of a dedicated tribunal, if that’s what it takes. We want justice for Ukraine and for Ukrainians.”

Ursula von der Leyen also published a video about her visit to Bucha last year. It contains footage of mass graves of civilians that were brutally killed by the Russian invaders.

The European Commission president also addressed the people of Ukraine on this sad anniversary.

As reported by Ukrinform, the EU supports the creation of a special tribunal for the Russian crime of aggression, to investigate Russian war crimes committed during the invasion of Ukraine, in cooperation with Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office and a joint investigation team consisting of investigators from several member states acting under the auspices of Eurojust.
