Over 72,000 war crimes have been recorded in Ukraine since the Russian full-scale invasion started.

The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Prosecutor General Andrii Kostin during his working visit to London, an Ukrinform correspondent reports, referring to the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office.

In the course of the meeting, Kostin expressed gratitude to Members of Parliament of the United Kingdom, Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Dominic Raab and Attorney General for England and Wales Victoria Prentis for providing assistance to Ukraine on the legal front.

Kostin emphasized that the mass deportation of Ukrainian children is part of Russia’s criminal strategy. In the latest report, the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry in Ukraine has confirmed Russia’s systematic approach to war crimes committed in Ukraine.

“The war of aggression is the cause of these mass crimes. Stopping aggression and bringing to justice the organizers of this ‘highest international crime’ is the duty of the civilized world and the key to achieving lasting peace,” Kostin noted.

The Prosecutor General of Ukraine called for the establishment of Special Tribunal over Russia’s crime of aggression.

“This is a decisive step for building the architecture of responsibility for international crimes and the most effective way to overcome the personal immunity of the leadership of the Russian criminal regime,” Kostin concluded.

A reminder that, on March 20, 2023, justice ministers from around the world held a meeting in London to boost international support for the International Criminal Court’s investigations into the war crimes committed by Russia in Ukraine.
