President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and President of the Republic of Latvia Egils Levits discussed the priority needs of Ukrainian defense, the creation of an international tribunal, and European integration issues.

"During the meeting with my Latvian colleague, we discussed how allies can support Ukraine in the future to speed up the victory and outlined the priority needs of Ukrainian defense," Zelensky said at a joint press conference with the President of Latvia in Lviv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

The President stressed that Latvia had helped Ukraine with weapons ahead of Russia’s full-scale invasion, in particular, by sending Stinger MANPADS.

The leaders also discussed the creation of an international tribunal and cooperation with the International Criminal Court.

Zelensky thanked Latvia for supporting Ukraine’s peace formula.

In turn, Levits reaffirmed Latvia's full support for Ukraine.

"We will help as long as it takes because you are fighting for our freedom and our values. Ukraine must win this war, it is obvious, and now all Western NATO and EU member states say that Ukraine's victory is the main goal of this war, and there is no doubt about Ukraine's victory," said the President of Latvia.

He added that Latvia's support from the government, as well as from municipalities and civil society, for Ukraine was discussed during the talks with President Zelensky.

In this context, Levits stressed that Latvia's security assistance to Ukraine had already exceeded one percent of the country’s GDP.

"This is a priority for us because Ukraine will face decisive combat operations in the coming months and we certainly support Ukraine in these times. We continue to work towards supplying various units of military equipment. We also communicate with allies and convince them of the need to ensure quick deliveries of what they promised. We are training Ukrainian service members through the EU training mission," the President of Latvia said.

Levits also pledged Latvia's political support for Ukraine in the EU, NATO, UN, and other international platforms.
