Russia responsible for closing door to talks - Stefanchuk

Russia itself closed the negotiation window, so at the moment, there is no possibility to sit down and agree on anything.

This was stated by Ruslan Stefanchuk, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s Parliament, who spoke at a briefing on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

Ukraine, he noted, perceives Russia as an aggressor power, which applies to both the political and military leadership – and the people. As long as the Russian Federation continues its war on Ukraine and chooses not to capitulate, there is no point in having any negotiations.

Ukraine will hold negotiations only after it wins the war. These talks would concern compensation for all damages that the Russian Federation has inflicted on Ukraine, the politician added.

Stefanchuk evaded a direct answer to the question whether Kyiv insists that it will not conduct any negotiations with Vladimir Putin, saying only that this depends on how the situation develops.

The Verkhovna Rada chair stressed that Ukraine had outlined its vision in the Peace Formula put forward by President Volodymyr Zelensky. It defines 10 clear components.

"This formula is simple and just. It includes all aspects related to achieving peace," Stefanchuk said.

He added that Ukraine is appealing to many nations to support this formula, and that some have already done so. Also, Kyiv calls on individual governments to take patronage over the components of the Formula, depending on who has more experience in certain issues.

"The formula is open... It is important to build together the logic of its implementation," emphasized Stefanchuk. "This formula isn’t a theorem, it’s an axiom."

As reported, the Ukrainian parliament speaker is participating in the Munich conference, held on February 17-19.
