President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has met with former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson, who is paying a visit to Kyiv.

The relevant statement was made by the Office of the President of Ukraine, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

Zelensky noted the active public support for Ukraine by the British politician.

“I heard your statements in Davos, thank you very much for them. Thank you for supporting our country,” Zelensky said.

During the meeting, Zelensky and Johnson exchanged views on practical steps that the British politician could take to help Ukraine in this difficult time.

In particular, the parties discussed the preparation of a ‘peace summit’ aimed to implement the Peace Formula that the President of Ukraine presented to the G20 leaders last year. One of the points of the Peace Formula is security guarantees for Ukraine.

“I am confident that the best guarantee for us would be NATO membership. It is important to actively promote the idea that our country should become a member of the Alliance,” the President of Ukraine stressed.

At Johnson’s request, Zelensky spoke of the situation on the battlefield. The Head of State is confident that, with the powerful support of partners, Ukraine will manage to stop the Russian aggressor and liberate all the temporarily occupied territories.

“Additional mobilization will not help Russia, its army is not motivated,” Zelensky emphasized.

However, Ukraine needs more weapons – tanks, aircraft and long-range missiles, the Head of State added.

The President of Ukraine thanked the United Kingdom and the British people for their strong leadership in defense and economic support.
