Italian PM Meloni invites President Zelensky to visit Rome

In a phone call, President of the Council of Ministers of the Italian Republic Giorgia Meloni confirmed her intention to travel to Kyiv and invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to visit Rome.

The relevant statement was made on the website of the Council of Ministers of the Italian Republic, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“The President of the Council of Ministers also confirmed her intention to travel to Kyiv and invited President Zelensky to visit Rome,” the report states.

Additionally, Meloni renewed the Italian Government’s “full support for Kyiv in political, military, economic and humanitarian terms and with regard to restoring energy infrastructure and the future reconstruction of Ukraine”.

Meloni also reiterated Italy’s utmost commitment to all actions to help achieve “a just peace for the Ukrainian nation”.

A reminder that, on December 27, 2022, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and President of the Council of Ministers of the Italian Republic Giorgia Meloni discussed the supply of air defense systems for Ukraine and the implementation of the peace formula. Zelensky also thanked the Italian side for the allocation of additional EUR 10 million in aid.
