Ukraine, Cambodia and Japan are working on a trilateral project to help conduct demining work in Ukraine.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said this on Ukraine’s television on Friday during a live broadcast from the ASEAN Summit in Cambodia, Ukrinform reports, citing the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.

Kuleba recalled that as a follow-up to phone talks between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, the Cambodian leader personally received him this week in Phnom Penh.

"At our meeting, we talked, in particular, about assistance in demining. We are working on a joint trilateral project to demine Ukrainian territories with the involvement of Cambodia and Japan. We discussed the specific parameters of this project, who will do what and what the schedule is," Kuleba said.

He added that he discussed this project in more detail at yesterday's meeting with Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn.

"Cambodia initiated this project at our request and is ready to help Ukraine in demining, together with Japan. In the past, Cambodia suffered from war for a long time, and it has considerable experience in demining. That is, there is expertise, there is equipment, so we will involve them in solving our problems," Kuleba said.
