Austria condemns Russian attacks on Zaporizhzhia: Perpetrators must be punished

The Austrian Foreign Ministry has called on Russia to stop attacks on civilian infrastructure, as it did during strikes on Zaporizhzhia, and emphasized the need to bring those responsible for these crimes to justice.

According to Ukrinform, the ministry said this in a statement posted on its Twitter account.

"Russian attacks against civilian infrastructure like in Zaporizhzhia are utterly unacceptable and must stop. The protection of civilians is not a choice, but a duty under international law. Those responsible must be held to account," the Austrian Foreign Ministry said.

In the early hours of October 9, the invaders fired nine S-300 and Kh-22 missiles at the residential quarters of Zaporizhzhia. Dozens of private houses, two apartment blocks and other civilian infrastructure in the city came under fire.

Thirteen people, including a child, were killed in the shelling, and 89 others, including 11 children, were injured.
