European Commission proposes new package of sanctions against Russia

The European Commission has proposed the eighth package of sanctions against the Russian Federation in response to the Kremlin's actions aimed at escalating aggression against Ukraine.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said in a tweet, Ukrinform reports.

“We are determined to make the Kremlin pay the price for this further escalation. Today, we are proposing a new package of biting sanctions against Russia,” she wrote.

Ursula von der Leyen and EU High Representative Josep Borrell presented the proposals of the European Commission at a briefing in Brussels.
