Western leaders should not listen to Putin’s threats but continue to support Ukrainians – UK PM Truss

Putin has been outsmarted by the Ukrainians and declared partial mobilization in response to Russia’s flailing military campaign.

The relevant statement was made by United Kingdom Prime Minister Liz Truss in an interview with CNN, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“I think he has been outsmarted by the Ukrainians. We’ve seen the Ukrainians continue to push back against the Russian offensive. And I think he didn’t anticipate the strength of reaction from the free world,” Truss said.

In her opinion, Western leaders should not be listening to Putin’s “saber-rattling” and his “bogus threats”.

“Instead, what we need to do is continue to put sanctions on Russia and continue to support the Ukrainians,” Truss stressed.

In her words, if Putin is allowed to succeed, it will be a terrible message for the world.

“If Putin is allowed to succeed, this wouldn’t just send a terrible message in Europe, and of course huge threats to the Ukrainian population themselves, but it also would send a message to other authoritarian regimes around the world that it’s somehow acceptable... to invade a sovereign nation,” Truss noted.

A reminder that Putin signed a decree declaring ‘partial mobilization’ in Russia on September 21, 2022.
