EU countries that are calling for dialogue with Russia are breaking European unity.

This was stated in an interview with PAP by the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland, Marcin Przydacz, Ukrinform reports.

"We (Poland) believe that deterring Russia is in the interests of all of Europe, and those demanding dialogue with Russia are breaking European unity today," Przydacz said.

He added that these countries should realize that their insistence on dialogue with Russia and pressure to reach an agreement was also pursued during the times of the so-called "Normandy format" of talks, which included Germany and France.

"We all know what this format has led to: it has not led to sustainable peace. On February 24, Russia, with which the Normandy format still sought to have a discussion, simply launched missiles toward Kyiv and attacked the independent Ukrainian state," the Polish senior diplomat emphasized.

He criticized the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, for his sharp statements against the countries of Central Europe regarding their activity in the eastern direction. According to the diplomat, Macron's words about "warmongering" can be interpreted in different ways, but it was a nervous reaction to the EU's Eastern policy. Przydacz noted that the French president probably wanted to say that Poland and other Central European countries should not dominate or impose Eastern policy on the entire European Union, but that it should be shaped by Paris together with Berlin. At the same time, he expressed his belief that, if Poland and other Central European countries were not effective and did not know how to convince the rest of the EU, then Macron would not have criticized Warsaw.

Since February 24, Russia has been waging a full-scale war against Ukraine.
