Ukraine’s First Lady Olena Zelenska was the first ever foreign leader’s spouse to speak at U.S. Congress.

That’s according to the Ukrainian President’s Office, Ukrinform reports.

“Olena Zelenska became the first spouse of a foreign leader to speak in the U.S. Congress. She addressed the congressmen on behalf of Ukrainian mothers and children and all citizens who died or suffered from Russian aggression,” the report reads.

It is noted that President Zelensky, who watched in Kyiv the live broadcast of the First Lady’s speech, is convinced that her U.S. visit will be a significant contribution to the deepening of cooperation between the two nations.
