Ukrainian defenders have eliminated 194 Russian invaders and destroyed 42 equipment units in southern Ukraine over the past day.

The relevant statement was made by the South Operational Command on Facebook, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“The enemy continues to conduct hostilities at the captured frontiers. They are not creating new strike groups and are sticking mainly to counterbattery activities. However, near Kherson Region’s Kniazivka and Olhyne, the enemy attempted to break through with sabotage and reconnaissance groups, consisting of up to 10 rashists. They had no success, were repulsed, and retreated,” the report states.

During the day, missile and air strikes were launched both along the contact line and in the rear areas. A pair of Ka-52 helicopters attacked the outskirts of Bila Krynytsia, and Kherson Region’s Velyka Kostromka came under artillery fire. No casualties or critical damage were reported.

In Mykolaiv Region, Russia’s shelling caused damage to a service station in Vysunsk; school and residential houses in Bereznehuvate; detached houses, household storage facilities and garages in Novosemenivka. In order to open fire, the enemy used the S-300 surface-to-air missile system modified to be loaded with explosive projectiles having an increased fragmentation and destructive effect. No casualties among civilians were reported.

In the evening of July 8, 2022, Russian troops shelled Dnipropetrovsk Region’s Chervonohryhorivka with the Grad multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS). The data on casualties and the damage caused are yet to be checked.

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s attack aircrafts twice struck enemy clusters in pairs near Snihurivka.

In general, over the past day, Ukrainian defenders have eliminated 194 Russian invaders and destroyed 42 equipment units, including two Grad MLRS, two command and staff vehicles, four Pantsir-S1 missile systems, one Buk-M2 transporter erector launcher, six Akatsiya self-propelled guns, 26 motor vehicles, one Orlan-10 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and three ammunition depots.

At the same time, Russia’s naval group in the Black Sea has reduced nearly by half. Two enemy ships, one submarine and three large landing crafts were left on duty. The Russian military are ready to launch 20 Kalibr cruise missiles.
