Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and Prime Minister of Norway Jonas Gahr Støre have discussed defense assistance, energy and humanitarian cooperation.

The meeting of the officials took place in Kyiv, Ukrinform reports with reference to the Government portal.

"Norway holds a leading position among the countries providing practical support to Ukraine. We highly appreciate your country’s allocation of almost 1 billion euros in aid. This is important for the support of the social sphere and the macro-stability of our state, because the majority of the budget today is aimed at ensuring the defense sphere," Shmyhal said.

He stressed that this visit to Ukraine at such a difficult time is an important and timely gesture of Norway's solidarity with the Ukrainian people.

The head of the Ukrainian government thanked for providing military and technical assistance for Ukraine, as well as for joining the European Union sanctions against Russia.
