Zelensky: Cyprus ready to support granting Ukraine EU candidate status

The Republic of Cyprus is ready to support granting Ukraine the status of a candidate for accession to the EU.
“During a phone conversation with President Nicos Anastasiades, expressed gratitude for the readiness of the Republic of Cyprus to support granting Ukraine the status of a candidate for accession to the EU. Discussed Cyprus’ participation in future reconstruction of Ukraine,” Zelensky posted on Twitter following the phone call with the President of Cyprus.
On June 17, the European Commission recommended that the European Council should confirm Ukraine's prospect of becoming a member of the EU and grant it candidate status.
The European Council will hold a discussion on granting Ukraine the status of a candidate for membership in the European Union at a meeting on June 23-24.
