Luxembourg commits 15% of defense budget to support Ukraine Army - Zelensky

The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg has allocated 15% of its defense budget to support the Ukrainian Army.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky made the statement during a joint briefing with Prime Minister of Luxembourg Xavier Bettel in Kyiv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

Zelensky said that during his visit to Ukraine, Bettel visited deoccupied settlements in Kyiv region. He stressed that this visit confirmed support for Ukraine.

"Being in Ukraine now, being with Ukraine now is being on the bright side of history, no matter how difficult it may be," the Ukrainian head of state said.

Zelensky noted Luxembourg's assistance, which has been actively provided to Ukraine since the full-scale Russian invasion. In this context, the president thanked Bettel for allocating 15% of Luxembourg's defense budget to support the Ukrainian Army.

He also expressed gratitude for helping Ukrainians who found shelter in Luxembourg amid the war.

At the same time, Zelensky said that during the meeting with Bettel, the two discussed issues of strengthening sanctions against Russia, addressing challenges related to the blockade of Ukrainian ports by the Russian military, as well as contributing to the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine. Regarding the reconstruction, Zelensky noted that the issue will be further considered at a conference in Lugano in July.

Prime Minister of Luxembourg Xavier Bettel is on a working visit to Kyiv.
