The summit of the leaders of the Three Seas Initiative will discuss, among other issues, cooperation with Ukraine in Riga on June 20-21.

Secretary of State Pawel Szrot, Chief of the Cabinet of the President of the Republic of Poland, said this on Radio Wnet, Ukrinform reports.

"During the Summit in Riga, the issue of relations between this Initiative and Ukraine will be raised," Szrot said.

He noted that the Summit will also be partly "Baltic in nature."

Szrot expressed hope that the security architecture in the Baltic Sea area would change rapidly, as very important countries in the region - Sweden and Finland - are applying for NATO membership. Therefore, there are several issues that need to be resolved, which will be the subject of discussion at the Three Seas Summit.

Recently, Poland’s Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki stated that the Three Seas Initiative is impossible without Ukraine's involvement in it.

Launched in 2015 by Polish President Andrzej Duda and Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, the Three Seas Initiative is a partnership bloc from the Baltic to the Black and Adriatic Seas aimed at deepening the integration of Central and Eastern Europe. The project brings together 12 Central and Eastern European countries that are members of the EU: four Visegrad countries, the Baltic countries, Austria, Croatia, Romania, Slovenia, and Bulgaria. The main focus of the Initiative is on the development of infrastructure projects.
