Germany will supply Ukraine with a modern IRIS-T-class air defense system and a modern target detection radar, as well as consider the possibility of supplying multiple rocket launchers in cooperation with the United States.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz delivered the news in his address to the Bundestag on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Most recently, the government has decided that we will deliver the most modern air defense system that Germany has, which is the IRIS-T," the chancellor said.

According to the top official, the German air defense system "will allow Ukraine to protect an entire city from Russian air strikes."

Scholz added that Germany would provide Ukraine with a modern radar that will allow its forces to detect enemy howitzers, mortars, and rocket artillery.

In addition, according to the Chancellor, Germany, in close cooperation with the United States, will consider the possibility of supplying multiple rocket launchers to Ukraine with a range that will not reach Russian territory.

According to the head of the German government, in the coming weeks, Germany will supply Ukraine with "12 state-of-the-art self-propelled howitzers in close cooperation with the Netherlands." Relevant training of Ukrainian servicemen will be completed in a few days.
