The United States remains steadfast in supporting Ukraine, despite any démarches or diplomatic notes sent by Russia, which is threatening "unpredictable consequences" over heavy weapons and equipment supply to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States of America, Oksana Markarova, spoke of this in a comment to Ukrinform on Saturday.

"The position of the United States remains unchanged. It had been the same before the war started," the ambassador said when asked to comment on whether Russia's latest diplomatic démarche affected the process of U.S. defense aid to Ukraine.

Markarova noted that the United States and Ukraine are strategic partners and friends.

"And we hear all the time, no matter what lying communication comes from the Kremlin, no matter how intimidating the notes or direct statements are, the United States says very clearly and publicly that they stand with Ukraine, supporting us in our fight for our own lives, for democracy and sovereignty," Markarova stressed.

According to the ambassador, this support is not only manifested in words, it takes concrete shape. This includes the arms supplies and other defense assistance; financial, energy, and other types of support; as well as Russia sanctions.

"We look forward to hearing about new sanctions in the near future," the diplomat said.

Besides, the ambassador confirmed that U.S. arms supplies to Ukraine continue on a daily basis. In this regard, she stressed that Ukraine is at war with an enemy that physically outnumbers the country’s forces by dozens of times. "That's why we still need a lot of (weapons - ed.)," Ukraine's ambassador to the United States said.

This week, the Russian embassy in Washington sent an official note to the Biden administration, stressing that more U.S. arms supplies to Ukraine "add fuel" to the conflict and could lead to "unpredictable consequences."
