United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson has expressed confidence that Ukraine will succeed against Russia, and Russian President Vladimir Putin will fail.

The relevant statement was made by UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson during a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, an Ukrinform correspondent reports, referring to the UK government website.

“The Prime Minister said international support for Ukraine only grew stronger and that he remained convinced Ukraine would succeed and Putin would fail,” the report states.

In addition, Johnson paid tribute to the bravery of Ukrainian forces who continue to valiantly defend their country’s freedom.

The two leaders discussed the need for a long-term security solution for Ukraine, and Johnson said he would continue to work closely with allies and partners to ensure Ukraine could defend its sovereignty in the weeks and months to come.

Johnson updated Zelensky on new sanctions from the UK that came into force last week, and said the UK would continue to provide the means for Ukraine to defend itself, including armored vehicles, in the coming days.

A reminder that United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson paid a visit to Kyiv on April 9, 2022. He presented a new package of financial and military assistance to Ukraine, including 120 armored vehicles and new anti-ship missile systems. The UK also provided GBP 394 million in grant aid to ensure the continued running of vital humanitarian services for Ukrainians.
