Kuleba: We have progress in talks about fighter aircrafts but cannot wait for weeks

Ukraine has made some progress in talks with EU countries regarding the supply of fighter aircrafts to combat the Russian invasion but insists that relevant decisions be endorsed as soon as possible.

The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba during an online briefing, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to Kuleba, Ukrainian pilots are fighting in the air heroically, dying when shooting down Russian aircrafts that are heading to bomb Ukrainian cities and kill civilians.

“We have recorded cases, when Russian aircrafts fired on the Ukrainian territory without crossing the border. Sadly, Russia’s Aerospace Forces are being used barbarically, and Ukraine, indeed, has an urgent need to enhance its air force,” Kuleba noted.

In this regard, Ukraine is holding talks with a number of countries and has made some progress.

“But, we cannot wait, as this is not about weeks – we do not have weeks, we have days – and we need to resolve this issue within a few days,” Kuleba stressed.

At the same time, even without having such aircrafts, Ukraine will not surrender, Kuleba emphasized.

“This means, if there are no such aircrafts, we will continue to fight; unfortunately, with much higher losses among civilians, as Russia will continue to cynically bomb our cities,” Kuleba noted.

A reminder that, on February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin initiated a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, starting a war. Over the past seven days, Russian invaders have been continuously shelling and destroying the key infrastructure facilities, as well as residential houses.
