New axis of London-Warsaw-Kyiv: Kuleba outlines prospect of small alliances
"I believe that the new axis of London-Warsaw-Kyiv will make an important contribution to strengthening the Baltic-Black Sea area and creating a new geopolitical reality in our part of Europe in historical perspective," Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba posted on Facebook.
According to Kuleba, he is grateful to his British and Polish counterparts, Liz Truss and Zbigniew Rau, for supporting the initiative.
The minister stressed that much attention was paid to Ukraine's long-term, strategic goals, and the strategy of proactive foreign policy continued to be implemented. “If we abandon our long-term path because of Russia’s threats and allow Russia to drag us into a continuous response to their demands and threats, we will never be able to win. Only proactive action in the long run can radically change the course of this hybrid war. Creating a new trilateral alliance is such a step,” Kuleba stressed.
He also released a map which, according to him, shows how the new format is embedded in the broader strategy of Ukraine's small alliances: the Lublin Triangle, the Associated Trio, the Quadriga format with Turkey.
"The system of small alliances is already able to quickly solve specific pressing problems. Strengthen defense capabilities. Implement profitable economic projects. Develop transport infrastructure. Enhance energy security. Counter hybrid threats together. The members of these alliances have no problems with a clear understanding of threats and steps necessary to effectively counter these threats," the minister explained.
He added that everything here is based on trust and a simple question: "Tell me what to do?"
“We have a strategy, we are moving forward. We are in the center, not on the periphery. The crisis will pass, and Ukraine will remain strong, with strong alliances,” the foreign minister stressed.
On February 17, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba announced that Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and Poland launched a new trilateral format of cooperation aimed at responding to threats to European security and strengthening economic cooperation between the countries.
