Poland cannot imagine the security of the European Union without the security of Ukraine and supports our country's future membership in the EU and NATO.

Deputy Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland Ryszard Terlecki made a corresponding statement at a joint briefing with Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

Terlecki noted that the Sejm delegation had chosen this day for a visit to Kyiv as the intelligence services of the allies had informed that a Russian offensive was likely to start today or at night.

"Fortunately, this has not happened, and may not happen in the future, but I want to assure you that we are ready to be with you in your parliament because we cannot imagine the security of the European Union without the security of Ukraine, we cannot imagine the future of the EU without Ukraine in it, we cannot imagine NATO without Ukraine," Terlecki said.

He reiterated that Poland supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and assured of the continuity of such support in the future.

For his part, Verkhovna Rada Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked the parliamentarians of the Republic of Poland for their decision to support Ukraine amid the escalation of Russian military aggression.

Recalling Unity Day, Stefanchuk stressed the importance of Ukraine's unity on this day not only within the country but also at the international level. In this context, the Verkhovna Rada Speaker noted that delegations of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland and the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania had been present at the plenary session of the Parliament on Wednesday.

Stefanchuk informed that an official meeting between the delegations of Ukraine and Poland had been held after the meeting.

"Ukraine expressed its gratitude for all the help we receive from the Polish side, for all the friendship, cordiality, sincerity, and real assistance. I thanked Mr. Terlecki for always being an active friend of Ukraine, for always taking part in all events related to the protection of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. I want to thank you [Terlecki] for this extremely important document that you handed over to me. This is the decision of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland to support Ukraine in this difficult time and to take note of our European and Euro-Atlantic prospects," said the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine.

As reported, on January 27, the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, the lower house of the Parliament, adopted a resolution in support of Ukraine.
