Scholz in Moscow: Recognition of 'LPR/DPR' could be political catastrophe

Ukrinform
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has said that Russia's recognition of "Donetsk People's Republic" and "Luhansk People's Republic" as independent entities could be a political catastrophe, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"If the decision by the State Duma becomes a reality, it would be a violation of the Minsk process. It would be a political catastrophe," Scholz said after talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Tuesday, February 15.

Russia's State Duma on Tuesday adopted an appeal to President Vladimir Putin proposing that he "immediately" recognize the independence of the so-called "LPR" and "DPR" in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine's Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
