Activists in Kyiv have called on German Chancellor Olaf Scholz not to try to persuade Ukraine to capitulate, demanding that he impose sanctions on Putin's agents of influence in Germany.

About 15 people are taking part in the event, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

Protesters are standing in front of the Memorial to the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred and holding a poster reading "Punish Putin, not Ukraine." In addition to imposing sanctions on Russia, activists demanded that the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline not be put into operation, that any thought of forcing Ukraine to implement the Minsk agreements be rejected, and that no talks be held with Russia until Ukrainian citizens illegally detained in Russian prisons are released.

Activists said that Ukraine will never give up its aspirations to join the EU and NATO and expressed hope that Scholz would pay attention to the current event.

On February 14, Scholz arrived in Kyiv to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
