President Volodymyr Zelensky sees as extremely important Ukraine's partnership with France in the security sphere.

The relevant statement was released via Zelensky’s official channel on Telegram on Tuesday, February 8.

"Ukraine continues to be the center of world diplomacy. Today I welcomed in Kyiv President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron. The visit is the support on the part of France of every Ukrainian. And I really appreciate it," the president wrote.

The head of state noted that during his meeting with Macron, the greatest focus was on the security of Ukraine, Europe, and the rest of the world.

"I’d like to state that we have a common vision of current threats and challenges. Therefore, the partnership between Ukraine and France in this area is extremely important today," said the president. According to Zelensky, Macron assured him that France is ready to continue to promote de-escalation and peace, including in the framework of the Normandy Four meetings.

The forthcoming talks at the level of political advisers to the leaders of the Normandy Four, scheduled to be held in Berlin, are expected to pave the way for the Normandy Summit to be held at the highest level.

"Along with security support, Ukraine appreciates France's assistance in ensuring the stability of our economy. Today, President Emmanuel Macron announced a decision to provide EUR 1.2 billion in funding to the Ukrainian government: a EUR 200 million loan and EUR 1 billion in financial guarantees. These funds will be provided in addition to macro-financial support already allocated by the European Union for the same amount and be aimed at specific development projects," Zelensky said.

According to the Ukrainian leader, an important outcome of the talks was the finalization of agreements on France's involvement in joint projects in Ukraine.

These include the supply of 130 Alstom locomotives to the Ukrzaliznytsia state-run railway operator, delivery of 370 units of fire and rescue equipment by Desautel for Ukraine’s Emergency Service, construction of patrol boats for the State Border Guard Service, as well as military and technical cooperation between Ukraine’s defense conglomerate Ukroboronprom and France’s Thales.

In addition, Ukroboronprom and the French side signed a joint statement on reforming Ukraine's defense industry.

"This level of international support once again testifies to unity of our key allies in assessing the security challenges facing our country, as well as their trust in Ukraine, its leadership, and the Ukrainian people," Zelensky said.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, on February 8, Emmanuel Macron arrived in Ukraine on a working visit. On February 7, the French leader was in Moscow for talks with Vladimir Putin.

At a joint press conference with the Russian president, Macron said the coming days would be crucial for stabilization and de-escalation of tensions.
