Arseniy Yatsenyuk on Dozhd TV: Putin at helm of new Russian national fascism

Vladimir Putin's government has embraced the new Russian fascism ideology.

That's according to Prime Minister of Ukraine (2014-2016) Arseniy Yatsenyuk, who spoke with Dozhd TV, according to his press service.

"Either Putin changes his behavior, which I doubt, or he will be stopped, and that I do not doubt. He will be stopped by the unity of the whole Western world. He will be stopped by Ukraine and Ukrainians,” the former prime minister said.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed that Putin "began to preach an ideology of the new Russian fascism." "How is the annexation of Crimea different from the annexation of Austria or the Sudetenland? How do the so-called appeals of Lavrov and others to protect the Russian-speaking population differ from Hitler's slogans for the protection of the German population in the territories he later annexed?”

“This is a really big problem. The problem is that the Russian leadership has led a new Russian national fascism,” he said.

The way Russian propaganda works is explained by Putin's remarks when he practically applauded Goebbels, he added: ”The Russian president has said he, in fact, likes Goebbels. That’s why the Russian propaganda machine is easy to predict."

The future development of the situation depends solely on Putin's personal decision: "The reaction of both Ukraine and the West will depend on this decision."

"I would like to emphasize once again that we will defend ourselves," he added.

"The greatest geopolitical challenge for the whole free world is whether the free world is able to defend itself. Or else the dictatorships and autocracies like Putin’s regime would actually try to lead a new global order," Arseniy Yatsenyuk said.

"I sincerely believe that the global order has been, is, and will be based on international law and on a strong, free, democratic Western world," he said.

It should be noted that Dozhd TV cut the piece about fascism out of Yatenyuk's interview in its televised version.
