Ukraine, United State mark 30th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations

According to Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba, Ukrainian diplomats ensured "an unprecedentedly close dialogue at the highest and high levels with the new U.S. administration" in 2021, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine posted on Facebook.

"The gem of diplomatic efforts was the President's visit to the United States in early autumn, which brought more than 20 new agreements and laid the foundation for further strengthening the strategic partnership between Ukraine and the United States," Kuleba noted.

The Ministry also underscores that the renewed Ukraine-U.S. Charter on Strategic Partnership, signed in November 2021, stipulates that the partnership is based on common values ​​and common interests of the countries, including inviolability of borders, commitment to peaceful, free and integral Europe, protection of sovereignty and territorial integrity, human rights and freedoms, recognition of democracy and the rule of law as the main guarantors of security, freedom, and prosperity.

Ukraine and the United States have ambitious goals in the further development of bilateral relations and remain committed to upholding common priorities and values ​​in the spirit of strategic partnership, the Foreign Ministry emphasizes.

The publication also highlights interesting facts about Ukraine-U.S. relations. In particular, it is noted that George Washington agreed with private owners on the transfer of land plots to create the U.S. capital at the building where the Embassy of Ukraine in the United States is currently located.

The United States recognized Ukraine on December 25, 1991, after the country gained independence from the Soviet Union. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on January 3, 1992.
