Within the framework of the Eastern Partnership summit, President Volodymyr Zelensky met on Wednesday with the Federal Chancellor of the Republic of Austria, Karl Nehammer.

That’s according to the presidential press service, Ukrinform reports

Zelensky congratulated Nehammer on his appointment to the high post and expressed conviction that the common historical past and respect for basic values will help further strengthen Ukrainian-Austrian cooperation.

As noted, the prospects of such cooperation are confirmed by the outcome of the Ukrainian president’s official visit to Austria in September 2020.

"Some of our agreements are already being implemented, as Austrian businesses recognize the positive effect of domestic reforms being implemented in Ukraine and open new prospects in our market," Zelensky said.

Austria confidently ranks sixth among the largest investors in Ukraine’s economy. The 63% growth of bilateral trade over the last nine months indicates the high potential for its further development.

Zelensky agreed that cooperation between the two countries will also contribute to the further promotion of Ukrainian business in the EU internal market, including within the Eastern Partnership format. He also expressed hope that Austria would lay down Ukraine's European integration prospects in a joint declaration.
