Britain calls on Ukraine to ratify Istanbul Convention - embassy

On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the United Kingdom has called on Ukraine to ratify the Istanbul Convention, according to the Twitter account of the British Embassy in Kyiv.

"On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the UK joins the Council of Europe and other international partners in encouraging Ukraine to ratify the Istanbul Convention," the embassy said.

It added that this step would help Ukraine to implement further effective measures to prevent violence against women, protect survivors, prosecute perpetrators and, more broadly, develop other comprehensive policies to address this human rights violation.

"The UK works alongside Ukraine to build effective domestic violence response systems and services for gender-based violence survivors," British diplomats said.
