Zelensky not ruling out full-scale war with Russia

Ukrinform
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said he does not rule out that the situation in eastern Ukraine might escalate and Russia may start a full-scale war against Ukraine.

He stated this at the YES Brainstorming forum in Kyiv on Friday, September 10, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

When asked if there was a possibility of a full-scale war, Zelensky said: "I think it may happen. It seems to me that the year 2014 was […] a step forward in this issue on the part of Russia and then, thanks to the Ukrainians, it was a step backward when they [the Russians] were stopped."

At the same time, according to Zelensky, if this happens, it will be Russia's biggest mistake.

"I believe that after that there will never be a neighborhood of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus if there is a strong escalation on the part of Russia," he said.

Zelensky said he mentioned Belarus because "there is Russia's presence" on its territory.
