Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba and Head of the President's Office Andriy Yermak arrived in Washington to prepare for the U.S. visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

That’s according to Kuleba’s Facebook post, seen by Ukrinform.

"Today Andriy Yermak and I are in Washington to prepare for the first official visit of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to Washington at the invitation of U.S. President Joseph Biden, which will take place on August 30," he wrote.

According to the minister, meetings are scheduled with U.S. President's National Security Adviser Jacob Sullivan, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, a number of senators, and U.S. analysts.

Kuleba also noted that the president of Ukraine will be the second leader from Europe, after the German chancellor, to visit the United States at Biden’s invitation.

"Presidents have a number of big topics. But whatever they are, there will be no ‘heightened tone’ or any blackmail. There will be a conversation of allies who are working together to address complex issues of security and prosperity of Ukraine, Europe, and the Euro-Atlantic space," Kuleba stressed.

Also, the top diplomat believes, it is important that the president is flying to the United States having a strong position, immediately following the largest international event in Ukraine’s history: the inaugural summit of the Crimean Platform, which will be attended by more than three dozen Ukrainian partners, including a high delegation from the United States.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, the Crimean Platform summit will be held in Kyiv on August 23.
