Ukrainian prosecutor general, Spanish ambassador agree on cooperation
"We are in the process of transformation. Every day we work to change the prosecution authorities for the better, increase their efficiency, and restore public confidence. We have successfully passed the reform stage, having certified prosecutors at all three levels. Our goal now is to improve operational processes within the prosecutor's office, as well as to change the internal culture in the institution," Venediktova stressed.
She also shared the steps to implement the strategy for development of the prosecutor's office, which was first adopted last year.
"We are committed to a serious fight against corruption within the system and excessive bureaucracy. We focus on the positive experience of digitalization, which has already been implemented in other countries. I consider it expedient to create a digital platform for the prosecutor's office that would combine all the necessary functions related to criminal proceedings and document circulation,” Venediktova said.
The interlocutors also discussed cooperation in the fight against cybercrime, which is becoming global. In addition, they exchanged views on combating environmental crimes.
On behalf of the Government of Spain, the ambassador congratulated Ukraine on the successful reform of the prosecutor's office and expressed readiness to deepen bilateral contacts.
