NATO still has no consensus on Ukraine's next steps – Zhovkva

Ukrinform
There is no consensus among NATO member states on Ukraine's further steps. Work on this issue will be carried out by Ukrainian authorities at different levels.

Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ihor Zhovkva said this at the All-Ukrainian Forum "Ukraine 30. International Relations" in Kyiv on July 5, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Unfortunately, we have to admit that there is no consensus in NATO regarding Ukraine's further steps. Everyone will work on this – including the President of Ukraine, who will soon pay visits to NATO countries, I mean Germany and the United States; we will also talk with other world leaders in this regard. This is the task of the Office of the President, the Foreign Ministry, and our ambassadors to NATO member states," he said.

According to Zhovkva, Ukraine is raising the issue of developing an approach that will determine the "end of reforms", that is, the end point when it will be possible to count on membership.

As reported, on June 14, the NATO summit was held in Brussels to consider ways to strengthen the transatlantic partnership and develop the Alliance by 2030.

NATO leaders reaffirmed the continuation of NATO’s open door policy and the Euro-Atlantic aspirations of Ukraine and Georgia, and called on both countries to continue carrying out reforms, bringing them closer to NATO.
