Ukrinform
President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a law extending the agreement between the governments of Ukraine and the United States on cooperation in the field of science and technology, Ukrinform reports with reference to the press service of the head of state.

"The governments of the two countries signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of science and technology in Washington, D.C., on December 4, 2006. However, it expired in 2019. Therefore, on July 9, 2019, the governments of Ukraine and the United States agreed to extend the validity of the document for an additional five-year period (starting from May 26, 2019)," the President's Office said.

The agreement is aimed at strengthening the scientific and technical capabilities of Ukraine and the United States, expanding relations between the scientific and technical communities of the two countries, as well as promoting scientific and technical cooperation for peaceful purposes in areas of mutual interest and benefit.

It will promote the development of direct contacts and cooperation between public agencies, universities, research centers, departments, and other organizations of Ukraine and the United States.

According to the document, scientists and researchers will have the opportunity to exchange scientific and technical information, experience, and research methodology.

On June 3, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the Law "On the ratification of the agreement (in the form of exchange of notes) between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the United States of America on the extension of the agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the United States of America on cooperation in the field of science and technology."
