The U.S. Embassy condemned Russia's aggression against Ukraine, which has led to the internal displacement of more than 1 million Ukrainians.

Embassy’s Spokesperson Daniel Langenkamp made a corresponding statement in a video address on the occasion of World Refugee Day, published on Twitter on June 20.

As the diplomat noted, almost 3.5 million people in Ukraine need humanitarian aid due to Russian aggression in the East and Crimea.

"On World Refugee Day, we reflect on all of the refugees, asylum seekers, displaced persons, and others affected by the conflict in Ukraine and around the world. We condemn Russia's aggression in Ukraine, which has led to the internal displacement of more than 1 million Ukrainians," Langenkamp said.

The United States, which is the world’s largest provider of humanitarian aid, fully supports Ukraine which is trying to help victims of the conflict, he added.

According to the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre (IDMC), the number of internally displaced persons in the world in 2020 was 55 million people.

As reported, 1,469,676 IDPs from the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea have been registered in Ukraine so far.
