Dzheppar stresses need to monitor effectiveness of sanctions against Russia

Ukrinform
First Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Emine Dzheppar believes it is necessary to develop a mechanism for monitoring the effectiveness of sanctions against Russia, since business finds ways to bypass them in the occupied Crimea.

She said this during an online discussion "Human Rights Violations in Crimea: Mechanisms of Struggle," an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"There should be not only an instrument of sanctions, but also monitoring of the results of the effectiveness of sanctions, since we see now that smart business has already found ways to bypass the sanctions," she said.

Dzheppar also spoke about the goals of the Crimean Platform summit in August.

"We are trying to consolidate the international community around the Crimean Platform as a basis for negotiations on the future of Crimea and the steps that could be taken to deter Russia and its aggressive policies," the official noted.

The deputy foreign minister stressed that Ukraine expects Germany's physical presence at the summit, which will be a powerful signal for Russia.

The official added that she is very grateful to Germany for the strategic partnership, unity with Ukraine, support for its sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence, as well as for support in international organizations.

As Ukrinform reported, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is consolidating efforts with the newly created expert network of the Crimean Platform in order to achieve a common goal - the de-occupation of Crimea.
